High-quality interior and exterior painting – it makes such a difference, and it all starts with thorough prepwork and attention to detail, including keeping the worksite clean and orderly.
I (Ed, owner of Basic Needs Construction and Painting Company) also try to be respectful of your time and budget. That starts with good communication before a project even begins.
I’ve found it useful to know the skills and details of painting and carpentry as they often overlap. This also simplifies the process for you if you can call one person to do both.
My approach to your remodeling projects centers around finding out what your goals are once the project is complete. I typically ask a lot of questions so I can understand what you have done for homework on your project. It’s good to discuss options to make sure you have fully identified all the steps it will take to get from A to Z. During the course of these discussions, my goal will be to help you choose the most appropriate products for the best price to ensure you’ll be happy with both the final look and the cost.
Painting projects can be as simple as painting a room or the whole house, inside and out. Many paint and building suppliers have gone to low-odor, low-VOC (volatile organic compounds) products, helping to provide user-friendly materials that are healthier for our families and our planet. These are especially helpful for the elderly or others who have developed sensitivities to chemicals. Whenever I can, I prefer using these products and make that easier for you by passing them along at cost.
My wife and I live on an incredibly beautiful, landscaped property. Pictures from my property are scattered throughout the website. We love to share its beauty with others, and its beauty motivates me to provide you with beauty in your home.
Environmentally Friendly "Green" Materials
I prefer and recommend “green” construction materials and paints whenever possible–for the health of you, me, and the planet. I try to make them affordable to you by giving them to you at my cost.
So what do I mean by “green” materials? For one, I use ‘healthy’ paint that does not contain the harmful chemicals known as Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s). These toxins are the reasons for most odors and irritants associated with painting.
The EPA states that “VOC’s include a variety of chemicals, some of which may have short- and long-term adverse health effects. Concentrations of many VOC’s are consistently higher indoors (up to ten times higher) than outdoors. VOC’s are emitted by a wide array of products numbering in the thousands, including paints and lacquers.”
So, wherever possible, I use paints that do contain the lowest levels of VOC’s possible.
